IN Brief:
- Interpipe has closed its acquisition of the former ArcelorMittal Tubular Products facility in Roman, Romania.
- The plant produces seamless pipes for energy, construction, and industrial applications.
- The deal gives Interpipe its first manufacturing platform inside the European Union.
Interpipe has completed the acquisition of the former ArcelorMittal Tubular Products facility in Roman, Romania, with the transaction taking effect from March 31. For the Ukrainian group, the purchase marks its first manufacturing platform inside the European Union and a notable step in its effort to deepen its footprint in regional industrial markets.
The Roman plant is not a token asset. Established in 1951, it produces seamless steel pipes in sizes from 168.3mm to 406.4mm for energy, construction, and industrial applications, alongside linepipe for onshore and offshore projects. Interpipe said the integration is intended to strengthen production capability, improve supply-chain efficiency, and give customers a broader European manufacturing base supported by its existing steelmaking and tubular operations.
For construction and infrastructure supply chains, the practical value sits in location and product range. A pipe mill inside the EU can shorten logistics, reduce border friction, and offer a closer manufacturing option for projects that need industrial pipe with traceable availability. The acquisition also pushes another part of the steel value chain closer to end markets at a time when energy costs, carbon measures, and transport risk are all feeding directly into procurement decisions.
