CW Plant Hire adds 20 Kubota excavators

CW Plant Hire has added 20 more Kubota U50-5 excavators. The fleet order builds out its 5-tonne offer for urban and confined-space work.

IN Brief:

  • CW Plant Hire has added a further 20 Kubota U50-5 compact excavators to its fleet.
  • The zero-tail-swing 5-tonne machines are aimed at urban and restricted-access applications.
  • The order keeps fleet renewal moving as the company adds capacity around a strong-performing compact class.

CW Plant Hire has added a further 20 Kubota U50-5 compact excavators to its fleet, increasing capacity around one of the UK market’s busiest machine classes. The order takes the company’s Kubota population to around 300 units and adds more weight to a fleet that already includes more than 1,000 excavators across operating weights from 0.8 to 22 tonnes.

The U50-5 sits firmly in the compact but capable bracket. At 4,775kg, with zero tail swing, a 40.4kW engine, 3,370mm digging depth, and 5,850mm forward reach, it is built for the sort of access-constrained site conditions that continue to define much of urban groundworks and utility activity. A full-width dozer blade adds stability when lifting and broadens the machine’s use beyond straightforward dig-and-load cycles.

The order also reflects how hire businesses are still refreshing core fleets where utilisation remains dependable. CW runs equipment on a four-year replacement cycle, which helps keep newer technology in circulation while preserving residual values on the way out. In practical terms, that means more late-model compact excavators available for contractors that want a familiar 5-tonne platform without stepping into larger machine transport, space, or fuel penalties.
