T H WHITE has expanded its SANY machinery partnership further. Material handlers, reach stackers, container equipment, and heavy-duty forklifts extend the dealer’s coverage into recycling, aggregates, ports, terminals, and logistics.

T H WHITE Construction has expanded its partnership with SANY to cover material handlers and port machinery, taking a dealer relationship established earlier this year into heavier equipment used across recycling, aggregates, terminals, and industrial logistics.

The additional range includes material handlers, container reach stackers, empty-container handlers, and heavy-duty forklifts. T H WHITE will provide sales, servicing, parts, and aftersales support across southern England and the Midlands.

The agreement builds on the company’s January appointment as an authorised SANY construction-machinery dealer for the West Midlands and parts of the South West. That earlier arrangement introduced excavators, wheeled loaders, and road machinery, while the extended portfolio pushes the partnership beyond conventional contracting plant.

Material handlers and port machines operate in environments where equipment availability directly affects throughput. Recycling plants, aggregate depots, scrap yards, terminals, and logistics hubs depend on repeated loading and transfer cycles, making machine uptime as important as headline lifting capacity.

A reach stacker that becomes unavailable can disrupt container flows across an entire terminal, while a material handler working beside a crusher, shredder, or sorting line can constrain production if it cannot feed or remove material at the required rate.

That puts greater emphasis on the dealer network supporting the equipment. Parts availability, diagnostics, workshop capacity, field engineers, and response times influence the whole-life value of a machine whose purchase cost is only one element of its effect on an operation.

T H WHITE has supplied construction machinery for more than 40 years and operates service coverage across southern and central England. Its wider portfolio includes equipment from manufacturers including Manitou, Mecalac, and New Holland Construction, alongside the SANY products added during 2026.

Alexander Scott, chief executive of T H WHITE, said adding material handlers and port machinery strengthens the solutions available to customers while extending the business into new sectors.

The new SANY equipment also broadens the overlap between construction plant and fixed industrial operations. Aggregate, waste, demolition, and recycling businesses often use machines that would once have been categorised separately from construction equipment, even though the materials they handle form an integral part of the building supply chain.

That is increasingly true as contractors try to retain more material in productive use. Demolition arisings, excavated material, timber, metals, aggregates, and other bulk products require sorting, loading, stockpiling, and transfer before they can return to construction or move into other recovery processes.

Ports present a different but related demand. Construction products, infrastructure components, steel, plant, and project cargo all depend on mobile handling equipment capable of moving heavy or awkward loads between storage areas and road, rail, or marine transport.

The machines themselves are becoming more varied as manufacturers introduce electric models alongside established diesel equipment. Fixed industrial yards and terminals can provide a more predictable operating environment for electrification than remote construction sites because charging infrastructure can be installed at a permanent base.

Electric equipment nevertheless has to match the duty cycle. Operators have to consider battery capacity, charging windows, electrical connection capacity, utilisation, residual value, and whether the machine can sustain the required productivity through long shifts.

Diesel plant will therefore remain appropriate for many heavy-duty applications, particularly where refuelling speed and continuous operation outweigh the benefit of zero local exhaust emissions. The transition is likely to depend on individual operating profiles rather than a single technology replacing another across the entire handling market.

For SANY, the distribution agreement provides an established route into sectors where incumbency and service support matter heavily. Customers buying machines for continuous industrial operations generally need confidence that parts and technicians will remain available throughout the ownership period rather than simply at delivery.

Simon Zhu, managing director of SANY UK, highlighted T H WHITE’s geographic coverage, customer focus, and aftersales capability when the expanded agreement was announced. Those factors are particularly important as SANY grows beyond its excavator and construction-machinery base into specialist handling equipment.

The commercial challenge now moves from product availability to fleet adoption. T H WHITE has to establish reference customers across ports, aggregates, waste, recycling, and logistics while supporting a broader range of machines whose maintenance requirements and operating environments differ from standard earthmoving plant.

The expanded partnership consequently gives both businesses a larger addressable market, but it also raises expectations around support. In applications where one machine sits at the centre of a material flow, the decisive specification may prove to be less about maximum capacity than how quickly the dealer can get it working again when something fails.
