BRCK buys Jacksons fencing business

BRCK has agreed to buy specialist fencing manufacturer Jacksons Fencing. The deal adds gates, perimeter security, acoustic barriers, and access control to its construction products portfolio.

BRCK Group has agreed to acquire H.S. Jackson & Son, adding a long-established fencing, gates, and perimeter security manufacturer to its specialist construction products portfolio.

The transaction includes an initial consideration of £15m for the business, alongside a separate land and property element. Jacksons, founded in 1947, designs, manufactures, supplies, and installs timber and steel fencing, gates, acoustic barriers, and access control systems for residential, commercial, industrial, public-sector, and security-sensitive sites.

The business operates under the Jacksons Fencing brand and has built its position around higher-specification products, including timber fencing backed by long-life treatment guarantees and steel systems designed for extended service life. Its offer spans domestic fencing, schools, transport, utilities, industrial sites, and higher-security applications where perimeter performance forms part of the site’s operational risk profile.

BRCK’s acquisition gives the group a stronger position in non-structural construction materials and specialist external works products. It also extends the company’s reach beyond core masonry and building products into a segment where installation capability, specification control, and long-term product assurance all carry commercial value.

Construction product suppliers have been broadening their portfolios in response to margin pressure and uneven demand across housebuilding, commercial development, and infrastructure. Businesses serving several routes to market are better placed to absorb weaker activity in any single segment. Fencing and perimeter systems also benefit from maintenance, replacement, and compliance-driven spending, as well as new-build demand.

Perimeter security has become a more sophisticated construction category over the past decade. Schools, utilities, transport hubs, logistics facilities, industrial estates, and public buildings increasingly require systems that combine physical durability, controlled access, acoustic performance, and design sensitivity. Specification decisions are therefore moving away from basic commodity fencing and toward systems with clearer evidence of durability, certification, and lifecycle performance.

The acquisition also adds manufacturing and installation capability at a point when clients are looking for more integrated supply. Product design, fabrication, delivery, and installation under a single specialist offer can reduce interface risk on projects where perimeter works are often left late in the programme but still affect handover, security, and site opening.

Consolidation among specialist construction suppliers continues to favour product businesses with defined market positions, technical credibility, and routes into public-sector or infrastructure work. Larger groups are using acquisitions to add resilience, expand specification influence, and cross-sell through existing customer channels. In a market still challenged by uneven housebuilding demand and tight project budgets, specialist products with infrastructure and security exposure remain attractive.

Jacksons gives BRCK a stronger position in those markets, particularly where fencing, gates, and access systems are procured as part of safety, operational control, and long-term asset management. Preserving the technical reputation behind the Jacksons brand will be central to turning the acquisition into more than a broader product list.
